Loraine Wright Tinsley

Loraine Wright Tinsley, 92, of Mt. Summit, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at The Waters of Muncie, following a brief stay. She was born February 6, 1923, a daughter of the late William Russell and Sadie Alice (Ford) Wright.

Loraine retired from Marsh Foodliner in New Castle, where she worked in the meat department for many years and was also the deli manager. She attended First Baptist Church in New Castle for several years, and her great love was serving with the Foster Grandparent Program at Blue River Valley Elementary School in first through third grades. During World War II, she worked at Chrysler Corporation in New Castle, working a “Rosie the Riveter” job on a bullet line. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge in New Castle for many years and dearly loved working in her yard and flower gardening.

She is survived by her son, Dan (Vickie) Tinsley of Mooreland; a granddaughter, Eairon (Kevin) Brown of New Baltimore, MI; three great granddaughters, Sarah (Eric) Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, Bayleigh Brown and Kaitlyn Brown, both of New Baltimore, MI; a great-great grandson, Jackson Anderson of Las Vegas, NV; two nieces, Malinda (Travis) Elam of TN, and Sally (Ken) Arnold of KY; a nephew, John Wright; cousins, Jewel Thornhill and Maxine White, both of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Delbert Adams; sister, Nona Nunemaker; half-sister, Bonnie Adams, and her very close friend, Ethyl Gregory; her former husband, Calvin Tinsley.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com .
