Louis S. Brodnan, age 89, of Knightstown, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born September 20, 1922 in Arlington Heights, Illinois to the late Thomas and Agnes (Sadecky) Brodnan.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving during WWII. He retired from Meijers in Indianapolis where he had worked as a meat cutter for many years and had formerly worked at County Market in Richmond. He was a member of the Knightstown American Legion and of St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, bird watching and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Charlotte (Millard) Brodnan; four children, Jeanne (husband, Gary) Beatty of New Castle, Steve Brodnan of Modoc, Robert Brodnan of Las Vegas, NV and Sharon (husband, Greg) Asbury of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Judy (husband, Melvin) Manning, Scott Pugh, Joe (wife, Sherry) Brodnan, Jeff (wife, Becky) Brodnan, Jenny (husband, Steve) Snyder, Jamie (husband, Brian) Soprych, Randy Braun, Cristi (husband, Ben) Richards, James Braun and Grace Asbury; great grandchildren, Parker and Hudson Soprych, Jackson and Riley Snyder, Brianna, Brittney, Josh and Izzie Brodnan, Shane and Sean Benjamin; great-great grandchild, Vinson Benjamin; two sisters, Hermie and Anne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe Stockton; two daughters, Cheryl Lyn and Lois.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Russ Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Catholic Church. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW and American Legion.
