Lowell Bridges

Lowell E. Bridges, 79, passed away on April 13, 2009. He was born on April 22, 1929 to Wm. Avery and Hazel Bridges of Knightstown. He married JoAnn Bullard in 1948. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June, 2008.

Lowell was a lifelong Knightstown resident and farmed with his dad for many years. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990 after 26 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church and graduated from Knightstown High School in 1947. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved family get-togethers and traveling with his wife and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn, son, Steve (Margie) Bridges, daughters, Susie (Devin) Keefer, and Beth (Carlos) Rigdon, all of Knightstown. He is also survived by his stepsister, Joan Weber, grandchildren, Staci (Doug) Emerson, Monica Locker, Melanie Lingenfelter, Matt Bridges, Nikki Bridges, Zach Bridges, Crystal (Jason) White, Molly Rigdon, Shawna Rigdon, Kyly (Brandon) Moore, and D.J. Keefer, great-grandchildren, Sy, Seth, Wes, Dakota, Madison, and Nichole, long-time family friend, Joan Browning, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Ronnie Bridges (2003), grandson, Ty (Vickie) Bridges (2005), brother, Lloyd (Margaret) Bridges (2007), step-mother, Mildred Bridges (1990), and Dolly (his faithful dog, 2009).

Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM Friday, April 17, 2009 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Reverend Kenneth Wells officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Knightstown Make A Difference, Knightstown American Legion War Memorial or Flag Funds with envelopes available at the funeral home.
