Lucile Ooten

April 12, 1917 — November 11, 2009

Lucile S. Ooten, age 92, of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at her residence. She was born April 12, 1917 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late John Logan and Alma (Cross) Smith.

She had worked at Firestone in Noblesville and also at Kern Nursery for many years. She and her husband farmed for many years where they raised Hereford cattle. Lucile enjoyed gardening. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church since 1944 and also the Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Norma Jean (husband: George) Smith of Anderson, Sandra Joyce (husband: Vern) Rinehart of Straughn and Peggy Ann (husband Roy) Garvin, Jr. of New Castle; eleven grandchildren: Lonnie (wife: Sandy) Smith, Scott (wife: Debbie) Smith both of Anderson, Eric Smith of Anderson, and his fiance: Judy Stearns of New Castle, Keith Massengale of New Castle, Kevin M. (wife: Kayla) Massengale of Lewisville, Bryan M. (wife: Sharla) Massengale of Lewisville, Bruce (wife: Terri) Massengale of Sulphur Springs, Julie (husband: Jack) Bailey of Lewisville, Allan (wife: Leigh) Garvin of Indianapolis, Brad (wife: Lisa) Garvin of New Castle, Jamie (husband: John) Boe of Noblesville; twenty one great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Lucile’s family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers: Mitzi Devine, Nancy Jones, Judy Stearns, and Fern Melton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Norval Wayne Ooten in 1995; two infant sons: Daniel Wayne and Kenneth Dean; great grandson: Joey Massengale; six brothers: Everett, Reed, Henry, Cordis, Joe, and John “Bud” Smith.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Larry Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hinsey-brown.com .
