Lucille E. Rector, 86, of New Castle, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Heritage House in New Castle. She was born November 9, 1924 in Akron, OH the daughter of William Henry and Sylvia (Van Hook) Barr.
She was a den mother for Boy Scouts for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hope, IN. She moved to New Castle following the death of her husband in 2007. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Columbus, IN. She loved baseball, knitting and crocheting, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include a son: James (wife: Cindy) Rector of New Castle; grandchildren: Robin Rector of Greenville, SC; Ben (wife: Renee) Rector of New Castle; great grandchildren: Beau and Annabelle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Frank Rector in 2007; siblings: Audrey Davis, Beulah Fiorentino, John W. Barr, Anna Chambliss, Nannie Mae Johnson, Rosavie Barney, Geneva Collingsworth, and Jimmy Barr.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Reverend Denny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Friday, December 3, 2010. Memorial contributions may be given to the Disabled American Veterans or Gideons International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
