Maedoris M Bowman

Maedoris M. Bowman, age 96, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. She was born July 25, 1914 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Hugh T. and Ada P. (Wood) McCune.

A 1932 graduate of Anderson High School, she graduated from Indiana Business College in Anderson in 1934. She and her husband, Woody joined D.E. Bowman Insurance Agency in New Castle and Hagerstown in 1938, which they operated for many years and later became Bill Baker Insurance Agency. A member of the White Branch Church of the Brethren, Maedoris played music there for over 73 years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, playing and teaching until just 3 weeks ago. She was a member of the Henry County Extension Homemakers for over 50 years, the Henry County Realtors Association for several years, and was also a member of the Cable Club for many years and the BPW of Wayne County.

Survivors include her children, Dan (wife, Gail) Bowman of Hagerstown, Karen (husband, Paul) Fisher of Hagerstown and Bill (wife, Melody) Bowman of New Castle; grandchildren, Scott (wife, Julie) Bowman, Kim Mitchell, Trent (wife, Jennifer) Bowman, Bennie (wife, Martha) Bowman, Shelly (husband, Herlan) Patton, Rock Fisher, Reg (wife, Kelley) Fisher, Sheree (husband, Chris) Mull, Heather (husband, Bruce) Hacker, Honey (husband, Brian) Hunt, Hope (husband, Dale) Longwell, Billy (wife, Wendy) Bowman; great grandchildren, Brittany, Jordyn, Cheyanne, Zackary, Travis and Christopher Bowman, Nathan (wife, Dawn) Mitchell, Daniel (wife, Samantha) Mitchell, Lucas Mitchell, and their father, Lawrence, Rance (wife, Ashley) Patton, Chase Patton, Whitney and Brock and their mother, Rebecca, Corrine and Catherine Fisher, Sophia, Quaid and Preston Mull, Tyler Hacker, Trey and Toby Hunt, Theodore Longwell, Tucker and Conner Bowman, Janie and Spence Hall; great-great grandchildren, Miles, Mena, Owen, Wyatt and Cole Mitchell, Jaedyn Patton and Ashlind Koskela.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Woodrow Bowman; brother, Elbert L. McCune; great granddaughter, Savanna Mull.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at White Branch Church of the Brethren with Pastor Brian Mackie officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the White Branch Church of the Brethren, 2044 N. Co.
