Mamie Willie Bruce, age 94, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her granddaughters residence. She was born March 28, 1919 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Luther and Ruth (Guffey) Leveridge.
She retired from the New Castle State Developmental Center. Mamie was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, baking and cooking for her family, singing, and playing the guitar and piano.
Survivors include her sons, James Bruce of Pendleton, IN, Larry Bruce of New Castle; daughter, Sharon Hobbs of New Castle; grandson, David (Kylie) Hobbs of New Castle; granddaughter, Tammy (Ronnie) Smith of New Castle; great grandson, Brandon Bartels of New Castle; great granddaughters, Amanda (Wayne) Williams of Greenfield, Kylin Enterkin and Keaira Hobbs; great-great granddaughters, Kinzie Ingermann, Kamryn Pew; great-great grandson, Chandler Williams; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bruce; son, Robert Bruce; brothers, John, Roscoe and Charles Leveridge; sisters, Cytha York, Irene York, Pauline Guffey and Madge Kendall.
Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Mamie at
