Manasseh M. Gillam, 83, of Noblesville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 in his home following an extended illness. He was born September 16, 1939 in New Castle to the late Manford and Myrtle (Barker) Gillam.
A 1957 graduate of Knightstown High School, he retired from General Motors in Anderson following 37 years of service. He was also an ordained minister with the Primitive Baptist Church and pastored Taylor’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church for several years until his illness. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and beekeeping.
“The best husband any woman could ever want”, is how his wife, Mary describes him. He was also known to be the kindest, most humble, and caring man ever. His gentle, and “others before self” persona made him very loved and he will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary E. Gillam, whom he married July 9, 1965, of Noblesville; his children, Rachel (Troy) Pierce of Lapel, Manasseh (Audrey) Gillam Jr., of Noblesville, Joshua (Meghan) Gillam of Alexandria, and Daniel (Lindsey) Gillam of Frankton; grandchildren, Melissa, Molly, Melanie, Erik, Sharra, Jacob, Bradley, Heidi, Hannah, Georgia, Zachary, Natalie, Daniel Jr., Matthew, Elijah, Gabriel, and Zane; great grandchildren, Olivia, Adrianne, Broden, Julia, Makayla, Jeremiah, Farrah, Bella, Jackson, Liam, Cora, Kashton, and Manasseh III; a brother, Herbert (Wilma) Gillam of Noblesville; a sister, Becky Fuson of Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Gillam; a sister, Velma Tryon, and two brothers, Letcher and Jerry Gillam.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m., noon (EST), Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Elder Doug Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military rites being conducted by the Knightstown American Legion. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
