Marcella Brown

Marcella M. Brown, age 84 of Mooreland, went to be with Jesus March 8, 2009 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in New Castle. She was born June 16, 1924 in Carlos, Indiana to the late Basil and Irene (Thornburg) Hiatt.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and her family was most important to her. She had worked at the Mooreland Grocery for 20 years. Marcella was a member of the Mooreland Friends Church and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Survivors include a son: Larry (wife: Esther) Brown of New Castle; a granddaughter: Jill (husband: Dave) Hermenet of New Castle; a grandson: Brian D. (wife: Amanda) Brown of Anderson; great grandson: Jordan Hermenet of New Castle; great granddaughter: Victoria Brown of Anderson; two step grandsons: David Allen (wife: Hwasuk) Smith of FL and Wilbur E. (wife: Maria) Smith of Sacramento, CA; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother: Max (wife: Madge) Hiatt of Mooreland; two sisters: Donna Pierce of New Castle and Ruby (husband: Ray) Murphy of Muncie; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Vernon L. Brown and a sister: Fern Harshey.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Tom Current and Carl Bennett officiating.
