Marie Denney

Marie (Rhodes) Denney, 86, of Shirley, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Brandywine Living Center in Greenfield following a brief illness. She was born September 25, 1923 in Kokomo the daughter of Harold and Della (Rhodes) Denney.

Marie was once known as “Little Judy” and was a MC in Richmond. She was an evangelistic singer in several states. She played and sung with Little Jimmy Hughes around the New Castle area during the 1950’s. She had a strong Christian faith and attended the Shirley Friends Church as well as several other churches.

Marie is survived by three sons: David (wife: Kay) Denney of Knightstown; Bill Denney of Shirley; and Ronald Denney of Shirley; grandchildren: Tammy (Rich) Kolosso of Pueblo, CO, Melissa (Kenny) Henderson of Shirley; Amanda (Matthew) Zering of Appleton, WI; Carissa (Ryan) Brammer of Indianapolis; Scott and Craig Denney of Knightstown; Joshua Denney of Philadelphia, IN; Tara Denney of Georgetown, KY; several great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Larson Denney in 1970; infant brother: Ivan Rhodes; brother: Lowell (Doby) Rhodes.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 18, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Charles Riggs and Dale Riggs officiating.
