Marlin Maynard Nicholas, 78, of rural Mooreland entered eternal life on Sunday, October 13, 2013 following an extended illness. He passed away at his home with his family by his side. "Nick" as he was known by all was born on August 30, 1935 in Byrdstown, Tennessee to the late Corneilus Steve and Leola Mae (Garrett) Nicholas.
Nick was a country boy that enjoyed children, Burger King, and a smiling happy face. He affectionately called others "Bub" or "Sis". Nick was a master craftsman carpenter and built several homes. He loved climbing and had worked for Wyco-Line at a very young age and later retired from General Motors.
Nick loved the Lord and witnessed his faith in many ways. He proudly displayed his John 3:16 license plate on the front of his truck. He had attended Open Arms Church in Muncie, but most recently attended Mooreland Friends Meeting.
Left to cherish Nick's memory include his children, Pattie (husband: Sam) Dowden of Ingalls, Lanny (wife: Vickie) Nicholas of Mooreland, Carol Lipscomb and Linda Scales; grandchildren, Gabrielle (husband: Jeremy) Ayres of Brownsburg, Jimmy (wife: Amy) Lowe of Greenfield, and Hayley Nicholas of Mooreland; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Ayres of Muncie, Ashley and Nicholas Ayres of Brownsburg, and Sophia Lowe of Greenfield; brothers, Norman (wife: Sherry) Nicholas of Rushville, Gleason (wife: Kay) Nicholas of New Castle; and several loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald, Wade and Bobby Nicholas; a sister, Charlotte Nicholas Cool; and a nephew, David Nicholas.
Public graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Mooreland Cemetery with Pastor Brenda Earley officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to the IU Health Ball Hospital Hospice for their wonderful care for Nick.
