Martha Jane Covey

Martha Jane (Black) Covey age 72, a long time resident of New Castle, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Vickie Koch in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born July 27, 1938 in Rowan County, Kentucky, the eleventh of twelve children to the late Pressie and Lula (Conn) Black.

Martha was a member of Brown Road Church of God in New Castle. She married Jimmy Earl Covey in New Castle on May 6, 1956 and had been married for thirty five years before his death on September 24, 1991. Martha was loved by many and they will mourn her loss.

Survivors include their children, Donald Gene (wife, Melinda) Covey of Orlando, FL, Bobby Joe (wife, Kay) Covey of Morgan City, MS, and Vickie Sue (Covey) Koch of Cincinnati, OH; she was blessed with nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Helderbrand of New Castle and Betty Albertson of Deerfield, IN; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine of her siblings, Curtis Black, Glennis Clell Black, Laura Lowe, Rena Wilson, Nellie Cue and Johnny Guy Black, with Jesse and Loretta in infancy and Verna at the age of eleven in 1941.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Allen Polston officiating.
