Martha Hood

Martha Jane (Cline) Hood, age 85, of New Castle, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Heritage House of New Castle. She was born May 21, 1924 in Lincoln, Missouri to the late Roscoe G. and Coy F. (Carter) Cline.

She was a former member of Modern Mother’s Club. She loved to read and enjoyed watching old movies but above all she loved and cherished her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha also enjoyed music and singing.

Survivors include her loving husband: Leland Hood of New Castle; two sons: Darry (wife: Sue) Hood of Knightstown and Keith (wife: Rosalie) Hood of Kokomo; five grandchildren: Scott (wife: Deanna) Hood of Lebanon, IN, Andy (wife: Jennifer) Hood of New Castle, Allison (husband: James) Steger of MI, Josh (wife: Nicole) Hood of Fishers and Emily (husband: Rich) McCorkle of Knightstown; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister: Shirl (husband: Tom) Barnes of Greensburg; close friends: Charles and Virginia Allen of Missouri.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Charles Cline; two sisters: Margo Jester and Randy Laswell; two infant brothers.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Russ Lutes officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
