Martha E. (Miller) Perdue, age 73, of New Castle, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born June 24, 1938 in New Castle, the daughter of Charles L. and Martha Evangeline (Hardwick) Miller.
A former resident of Straughn and New Lisbon, she had been employed at ICAP and formerly at the HC Public Library. She worked at Sunnyside Elementary School and was also active with the PTA and Girl Scouts. She had been a Rainbow Girl with the Eastern Star and belonged to two Euchre Clubs. Martha was a member of the First Christian Church and formerly attended Pilgrim Holiness Church for many years. She enjoyed camping and playing games.
Survivors include two daughters: Debbie (husband: Billy) Evans of New Castle; Diane (husband: Dennis) York of New Castle; one son: Doug (wife: Susan) Perdue of Clarksville, MD; five grandchildren: Dara Evans (husband: Kyle French) of Berea, KY; Danielle York of New Castle; John Evans of New Castle; Josh and David Perdue of Clarksville, MD; one great grandson; one sister: Sharon (husband: Argo) Claggett of Nicholasville, KY; several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Darrell Perdue in 1996; several nieces and nephews; a brother: Jack Miller; and an infant sister.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at the funeral home.
