Marthan Dishman, age 79, of Mooreland, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 19, 2010 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born June 2, 1931 in Roodhouse, Illinois to the late Homer and Lenora (Craft) King.
She was a GS12 budget Analyst for the United States Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison and retired following 36 years of service. Prior to working for the Army, Marthan worked at the Hosiery Mill in Indianapolis and taught elementary school in Kentucky. She also was an avid NASCAR and Indy Car enthusiast. In 1956, Marthan married her love, Hubert Dishman and was a very loyal wife and mother.
Survivors include her son, Tom (wife: Angie) Dishman; daughter, Louetta Dishman; grandchildren, Rebecca Dishman, and Michele (husband: Josh) Byrd; sister, Ruby (husband: Bill) Crawford; and a brother, Johnny (wife: Betty) King.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Dishman; brothers, Haskel King, Bernie King, Jackie King, Garvin King; sisters, Jewell Young, and Celest Ferguson.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gary McCutchen officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.
