Marvin E. Ray, 72, of Carthage passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield after a brief illness. He was born October 10, 1936 in Carthage the son of Kenneth and Francis (Whitfield) Ray.
A 1954 graduate of Carthage High School, he retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of the UAW. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he was a member of the Faith Chapel Independent Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and loved his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 45 years: Sue Ray of Carthage; a brother: David (wife: Sharon) Ray of New Castle; a special nephew: Bud (wife: Mary) Ray of New Castle; two special nieces: Vanessa (husband: Ronnie) Peavie of Kokomo and Darla (husband: Jeff) Van Duyne of Morristown; three brothers-in-law: James Jordan of Carthage; Bob (wife: Eva) Jordan of Shirley; Glen (wife: Vivian) Jordan of Wilkinson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Brother Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Carthage Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, December 5, 2008.
