Mary Ashton

Mary E. (Dahl) Ashton, age 77, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Henry County Hospital. She was born April 18, 1932 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Einar and Janan (Huner) Dahl.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle. She graduated from Howe High School in the class of 1949. She was a very gifted seamstress and excellent musician and also loved gardening. She loved her family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include two children: Jim (wife: Judy) Sexton of Coatesville, IN and Sue (husband: Ron) Schroerlucke of Sidney, OH; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters: Barbara Eckdahl of Tucson, AZ and Christine (husband: Darryl) Schweitzer of Spartansburg, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Roger Ashton and a son: Michael William Sexton.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Castle with Reverend Rex Espiritu officiating. The burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon, Indiana at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the YMCA or Corydon Little League with envelopes at the church.
