Mary Ann (Jones) Basicker, 70, Charlottesville, passed away at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana, Nov. 14, 2016. She was born Feb. 15, 1946, to the late Virgil “Pat” and Florence (Simmons) Jones.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Charlottesville High School, class of 1964. She married Dennis Basicker and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was head custodian at Eastern Hancock Elementary and was affectionately called Mrs. Basicker by the students.
Mary Ann enjoyed weeding the garden, working crossword puzzles and spending time with the grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennis. Also surviving are two sons, Aaron (Jenny) Basicker, Kokomo, Ben (Gretchen) Basicker, Greenfield; grandchildren, Kyle and Kaylee Basicker, Greenfield, and Heather (Trevin) Vanderbur, Kokomo; siblings, John (Janet) Jones, Charlottesville, Carrie (Terry) Jeffers, Plainfield, Steve Jones, Knightstown; several special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her adorable cat, Sweet Pea.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald Jones.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel, with Pastor Fred Powers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, and one hour before the service Friday.
