Mary Kendall Lovely Brumback, 96, died suddenly in her home on Jan. 4, 2014. Throughout her life she was known for her keen mind, her unwavering faith, and her love for friends and family.
A New Castle resident since 1972, Mrs.Brumback was a retired teacher from
Garfield Elementary School in Muncie. She was active in numerous community groups, including Sorosis Club, Shakespeare Club, the Henry County Retired Teachers Association, the local AARP chapter, Friends of the Library, Cheerful Homemakers and the Books and Blessings book club. She had been a long-time volunteer in the local adult literacy program and at New Castle Henry County Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of the New Castle
First Friends Meeting, where she taught the Keystone Sunday School class.
Mrs. Brumback is survived by her children, Dan Lovely of Stuart, Florida, and Diane Airhart (Carl) of Anderson; three grandchildren, Gina King (Phil) of Anderson, Ryan Noggle (Amanda) of Sherman Oaks, California, and Sean Airhart (Torey), Seattle Washington; and four great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Rev. Denzel Lovely, in 1966; and Donald Brumback of New Castle, in 1992.
Visitation hours will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at First Friends Meeting, 503 S Main St, New Castle, IN 47362, followed by a service of celebration at 3 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
