Mary Irene Fairchild, 84, of New Castle passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 24, 1928 in Albany, Kentucky a daughter of the late Willie and Bertie (Cash) Lewis.
She had worked at Rose City Packing in New Castle for over 15 years. Mary attended Spiceland Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, canning, cooking, refurbishing trunks and caring for her family.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years: Wallace Fairchild; son: Danny (wife: Faye) Fairchild of New Castle; daughter: Joyce (husband: Don) Lacy of New Castle; four grandchildren: Chad & Hope Fairchild; Donnie (wife: Kristen) Lacy and Sally (husband: Chad) Charlton; four great grandchildren: Fayth, Hunter, Angel and Zach; two step great grandchildren: Taylor and Blake; three brothers: Jim (wife: Phyllis) Lewis of Iowa City, Iowa, Clayton (wife: Virginia) Lewis of New Castle, Howard (wife: Leila) Lewis of Hagerstown; three sisters: W.J. Howe of Hagerstown, Wanda (husband: Ronnie) Lee of Eaton, Ohio and Karen (husband: Tim) Hamilton of New Castle; brother-in-law: Don Snyder of New Castle; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Crandel Lewis; a sister: Delores Snyder and a brother-in-law Bob Howe.
Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastors Allen Southerland and Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
