Mary C. Giannini, age 81, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born September 22, 1928 in Richmond, Indiana to the late William and Llda (Maag) Schneider.
Mary was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church for 32 years and volunteered there as a catechist and bookkeeper. Mary also was a catechist and former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Richmond for 22 years and a former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Richmond for 27 years. She had also been a bookkeeper with the Richmond Baking Company after graduating from Richmond High School. Mary enjoyed visiting with lifelong friends from St. Andrew Grade School which met regularly for the past 75 years. She also enjoyed activities such as camping, fishing, and walks in the woods especially in the fall which was her favorite time of the year.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, John Giannini of New Castle; children: Janet (husband: Al) Magee of New Castle, Rev. Stephen W. Giannini of Indianapolis, Joan (husband: Jeff) Michael of Peachtree City, GA, Anthony J. Giannini of New York, NY (partner: Mark Lewis); granddaughter: Jackie Michael of Peachtree City, GA; grandson: C.J. Michael of Boone, NC; siblings: John (wife: Doris) Schneider of Coal City, IN, Janet Quinter of Richmond, Paula (husband: Joseph) Kish of Georgetown, TX, George (wife: Judy) Toschlog of Centerville, IN; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Anderson of Overland Park, KS, Lena Lonigro of Miamisburg, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather: C. Joseph Toschlog; sister-in-law: Mary Louise Ramsey; brother-in-law: Elmer Quinter.
The family wishes to thank Sr. Shirley Gerth, OSF and the parishioners of St. Anne and St. Rose Catholic Churches for their kindness and prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Knightstown with Rev. Stephen W. Giannini officiating. A luncheon at St. Rose Catholic Church will be provided by the St. Anne Society and St. Rose Lady Society following the Mass. Prayer service begins at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 with calling from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Richmond.
