Mary E. Gibson, age 84, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on June 19th, 2024, at The Willows of New Castle. She was born on December 9th, 1939, in Somerset, Kentucky to Vecheal and Lytha (Walden) Martin.
Mary dedicated more than 30 years of her life to Dana Corporation before retiring. She was a passionate collector of dolls and enjoyed spending time fishing. Mary was known for her generosity and unwavering faith as a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church in New Castle, IN. She enjoyed living at Senior Living at Forest Ridge and will be missed by her friends there. Mary had a special bond with all her great grandchildren especially her great granddaughter, Emma, who was with her every day in her final days.
Mary is survived by her devoted son, David Gibson; grandchildren, Chad (Melissa) Malicoat, Sunshine (Steven) Browning, Justin (Danielle) Malicoat, Jordan (Susan) Gibson, Summer Malicoat and Kyle (Cindy) Gibson; great grandchildren, Emma Malicoat, Liam, Logan, Elliot and Addy Gibson, Ryan and Brendan Luzader, Adalyn, Cora and Nila Malicoat and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dewel Gibson; her daughter, Thea Malicoat; daughter in law, Kim Gibson; her brother, Charlie Martin and her sister, Betty Jo Dugger.
The family would like to thank The Willows of New Castle for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Mary in the last year and Henry County Hospice for their support in Mary’s final days.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024 at Grace Baptist Church, 2649 Q Ave New Castle, IN 47362 with Pastor Brian Neal officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday.
