Mary Lee Jones

Mary L. Jones, 68, of Knightstown, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born February 14, 1944 in Shirley the daughter of Fred and Lois (Bunch) Smith.

Mary loved her grandchildren and they were her life. She enjoyed playing card games with the family, shopping, Bingo and going on vacations, especially to Florida with her daughter. Mary worked at the Knightstown American Legion for 22 years, enjoyed spending time there and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. She was an avid sports fan, especially Jeff Gordon and Purdue. She also enjoyed going to the casino with friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son: Todd Jones of Knightstown; her daughter: Stephanie Jones (special friend: Bryan Deck) of New Castle; grandchildren: Trey and Christopher Clayborn of New Castle; brothers: David (wife, Patty) Smith of Knightstown, Carl (wife, Irene) Smith of Indianapolis, James (wife, Evelyn) Smith of Whiteland, Allen Smith of Carthage, Robert “Herbie” (wife, Sharon) Smith of Syracuse; sister: Mildred (husband, Jim) White of Spiceland; best friend: Connie (husband, Jim) Brown of Knightstown; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Marty Jones; several brothers and sisters; longtime companion: Norman Carroll; father of her children: James “Shank” Jones; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, October 19, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday.
