Mary B. Lott, age 101, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at The Waters of New Castle following a brief illness. She was born March 19, 1908 in Taunton, MA, a daughter of the late Antonio and Motda Marie Dole A. (Rapozo) DeMoura.
Being that her parents had emigrated from Portugal, she and her family returned to Portugal when she was age 12 and lived there for approximately 7 years. Upon returning to the United States, Mary attended tailoring school in New York City and remained there, working as a professional tailor and seamstress until moving to New Jersey, where she continued working. She later retired to Florida and continued doing alterations in her home until age 95. She moved to New Castle in 2004 to be close to her son, and enjoyed residing at Raintree Square. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Arthur Braga Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Metuchen, NJ, and Robert Braga and his wife, Mary Ruth of New Castle; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and a half sister, Helen Victorine of New Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Arthur Braga Sr. and Forrest Albert Lott; two sisters and a brother.
Following cremation, private burial will take place at a later date. There will be no public services. In Mary’s memory, her family requests memorial contributions be given to someone in need.
