Mary E. Reed

March 28, 1921 — November 13, 2011

Mary E. “Grandma” Reed, 90, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in Henry County Hospital. She was born March 28, 1921, a daughter of the late Victor and Roxie (Swope) Broo.

Affectionately known as “Grandma Reed” to many, she loved babies, and caring for children was her passion. This was quite evident as she ran her own daycare for many years, retiring in 1980. She was a great caregiver, and had a strong faith and a strong belief in Jesus. She attended the Oakville First Brethren Church.

She always put other people first, loved her grandchildren, was a great mother and wife, loved cooking for others and loved Christmas time.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Carol Daugherty of New Castle, Maria (Wayne) Foster of Springport, Guy L. (Rebecca) Reed of Reno, NV and Sheni (Larry) Sizemore of Indianapolis; grandchildren, June and Cole Burnsworth both of Medina, OH, Terri (Edward) Eckels of FL, Bobbi Jo Franklin of Ft. Wayne, Rusty (Kris) Denham of Ft. Wayne, Jason (Hannah) Foster of New Castle, Rachel and Hanna Foster of Springport, Virginia Reed of CA, Selena Osborne of CA, Jake Sizemore of Indianapolis; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Dash) Broo of Hot Springs, AR, Martha Frieberger of Ft. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Reed; daughter, Clarice Ann Hillen, grandson, Randall Denham Jr.; brothers, Junior, Jack, and Garth Broo; a sister, Betty Broo.
