Mary B. Sneed

Mary B. Sneed, 96, of Sulphur Springs passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Leesburg, Florida. She was born February 19, 1923 in Albany, KY a daughter of Robert M. and Eva Elizabeth (Gist) Bertram.

Mary worked at Comfey Togs Garment Factory and retired in 1976 from Fisher Guide in Anderson after 30 years of service. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida. Mary was a member of Henry County Senior Center, Senior Center in Leesburg, Florida and Coachwood Colony Social Club. She was an avid quilter and made quilts for her family, friends and would donate them to various organizations to be raffled off. Mary also enjoyed baking, playing cards, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth S. Griggs of Sulphur Springs and Mary Etta Sneed of New Castle; a son, Rex (Sissy) Sneed of New Castle; grandchildren, Walter D. (Irene) Griggs, Jr. of Springport, Iris Sue Griggs of New Castle, Frankie Glen Griggs of Middletown, Misty Ann Thompson of KY, Judy Lynn (John) Reno of New Castle, Jimmey Rex Sneed, Jr. of New Castle; great grandchildren, Amy Nicole Griggs of Springport, Teddy Eugene and Taylor Louis Griffin of New Castle, James Thomas (Heather) Griggs, Katlyn Sneed, Billy, Jaxon, Hudson, Chealson and Desmond Case, Chris (Tisha) Thompson, Cherish Thompson, Shawna (Angy) Malone, Casey Beckner, Johnny Reno, Ryan Reno (Leslie Utt), Brandie (Ramon) Baxin; great-great grandchildren, Layke Darrel and Raylan Shaye Leonard, Landon and Layne Griggs, Lance, Bradley, Reba Madison and Courtney Thompson, Makaila Marlow, Darryen Poindexter, Devin, Brodie, Clayton and Logan Reno, Anthony and Audrey Baxin; special friends, Rick and Tammy Young; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira L. Sneed; 3 brothers, Woodrow, Zola and Earl Bertram; sisters, Jewel, Maggie, Audrey, Edith, Marie and Kimbell; grandsons, Tracy Gossage and Ricky Lee Reno; great grandson, Walter Darrel Griggs, III.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Denny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at the funeral home.
