Mary Josephine Sutherland

Mary Josephine Sutherland, age 73, of New Castle, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at her residence. She was born on May 8, 1938 in Henry County to the late Robert Ellsworth and Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” (McGuff) White.

Mary Jo retired from the State of Indiana where she held various positions as an Administrative Assistant before retiring in 2005 following 28 years of service. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son: Joseph (wife: Becky) Sutherland of Indianapolis; a daughter: Mary Susan (Sutherland) Walcott of New Castle; grandchildren: Jennifer Ann Sutherland of Chicago; Courtney Jo (Walcott) Johnson of New Castle; Cassandra Lyn Walcott of New Castle; Taylor Elizabeth Sutherland of Indianapolis; a great grandchild: Rachel Elizabeth Johnson of New Castle; a sister: Elizabeth Anne (White) Edwards of New Castle; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Robert E. White II; a sister: Janie (White) Bennett; and a cousin: Walter Vern “Duke” Falck.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
