Mary Elizabeth Catron Walker, 84, of Mooreland passed away Friday July 25th at her home following an extended illness.
She was employed at RCA, Indianapolis and later at Firestone World Bestos of New Castle. An avid gardener and devoted homemaker who loved to read and sew. She attended First Church of the Nazarene and was active with her Sunday school class and served as a greeter. She was born May, 31, 1930, in Cumberland City, Kentucky, a daughter of Rolland G. and Lorena (Peters) Catron.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie E. Swoveland of Pennville; a son, Jeffrey A. (wife: Ella) Walker of New Castle; three grandchildren, Amanda C. (husband: Jason) Hartman of Portland, Brandon Swoveland of Portland and Andrew (wife: Heather) Swoveland of Pennville; four great-grandchildren, Rihanna, Carter, Tyler, and Jayce. Survivors also include three brothers, Samuel, Benjamin, and Phillip Catron and one sister Martha Massengale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Cleomis Walker, her parents, son-in-law David Swoveland, and a brother David Catron, half sister C. Esther Cochrum.
Services will be at 10:30a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Rev. Danny Goddard and Rev. Norwood Kreuzinger officiating. Burial will follow in Batson Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
