Mattie W Gray

Mattie W. Gray, 99, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 09, 2011 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born October 27, 1912 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to the late Christine (Gaskins) Bray.

She retired from Modernfold Corporation in New Castle and was also a foster grandparent. She attended Whittier Lane Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann (husband, Gene) McLaughlin of New Castle; granddaughters, Ruth (husband, Don) Guffey of New Castle, Pam Vetor of Daleville and Janet (husband, Dave) Wagner of Muncie; great grandchildren, Amy (husband, Robert) Stalvey of Avon, Bill Guffey of Greenfield, Jason Loveless of New Castle and Mark Douthitt of Muncie; great-great grandchildren, Carolina, Savannah and Madison Stalvey, Kaylee Loveless, Wesli Welch, Lilly and Mali Guffey.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eaf Huckaby, Frank Carter and James Gray; children, Verlie Huckaby, Christina Huckaby, James Huckaby, Paul Huckaby and Julia Huckaby; brother, James Hart; sister, Effie Byrd; great granddaughter, Lorie Welch.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the funeral home.
