Mattie “Louise” Woodard, 96, of New Castle and formerly of Muncie passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Henry Community Health. She was born on January 31, 1929, in Owenton, Kentucky to the late William Henry and Ollie (Cammack) Davis.
Louise was a graduate of Muncie Central High School, then later graduated from Indiana Business College. During her career in Muncie, she became Business Manager at the Ford dealership and then at Nottingham Pontiac, where she worked until she retired. She and her husband attended Madison Street United Methodist Church for many years where they very generously supported many missionaries and ministerial students. Additionally, she served as the church treasurer and sang in the choir. When she later moved to New Castle, she became a member of The Sanctuary of New Castle, where she was affectionately known to everyone as “Aunt Louise.”
Louise had many special nieces and nephews, too many to name, along with great and great-great nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much. She was a great hostess and made everyone who came through her doors feel very welcome.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayman Woodard; siblings, John Franklin Davis, Luke Davis, Pat Davis, Lena Huffman, Luella Tuggle, Myrtle Snider, Mary Hisle, Norma West and Gladys Hisle.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 15, at 11:30 am at The Sanctuary of New Castle with Pastor Jeff Jaco officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.
