Maverick Wayne Simons, infant son of Wayne and Courtney (Baker) Simons, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 1, 2014, while at Riley Hospital for Children. He was born April 26, 2014 at Henry County Hospital in New Castle.
Many people in our community were touched by Mavericks short life on this earth.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Wayne and Courtney (Baker) Simons of New Castle; his godparents, Shane and Catie Campbell of New Castle; a half brother, William Land of New Castle; maternal grandparents, Linda Kay and Morgan Buckley of Spring Hill, TN, and Alan Baker of New Castle; paternal grandparents, Gary Simons of New Castle, and Theresa and Tim Dalton of Greensfork; maternal great grandparents, Floyd and Betty Piercy of New Castle, and Gail and Roberta Buckley of Danville; paternal great grandparents, Dorothy Smith of Greensfork, Betty Pennycuff of New Castle, and Earl and Marilyn Smith of Murfreesboro, TN; aunts and uncles including, Allison and Joe Morton of New Castle and Jenny Leonard of Greensfork; special cousins, Kendall and Zack Powell, and special great aunt, Debbie (Dave) Allen, all of New Castle; several great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a half sister, Reece Land; maternal great grandparents, Robert and Elsie Baker; and an aunt, Ashley Simons.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Paul Kirk and Paul Davis officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, you may join Courtney and Wayne in procession to "take Maverick to the park" at Memorial Park for a balloon release. Burial will be later at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at the funeral home.
