Max C. Moffitt, 87, of Spiceland passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at I.U. Health Ball Hospital. He was born August 24, 1926 in Knightstown, IN to the late Edith C. (Chew) Moffitt.
Max was a 1944 graduate of Spiceland High School. He was a US Army Veteran and served from 1944-1946 during WWII. Max retired from Draper Inc. in 1992 following 42 years of service. Throughout the years, he enjoyed doing yard work for residents around Spiceland. Max was a member of the Spiceland Friends Church in which he served on various committees; and also served as Spiceland Township Trustee for several years during the 1980's. He was a former member of Spiceland Volunteer Fire Department and served at Fire Chief for a few years. Max was a 50 year member of the Spiceland/Lewisville Masonic Lodge, and was a past Master at the Spiceland Chapter. He was also involved with the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Wilkinson.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Betty (Bryson) Moffitt of Spiceland; son: Ronald (wife: Linda) Moffitt of New Castle; daughter: Lisa (husband: Brad) Knotts of New Castle; grandchildren: Justin Moffitt of New Castle and Lacey Gooden of New Castle; great granddaughter: Brynna Moffitt; sister: Sue Wills of Spiceland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his son; David Mark Moffitt.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Spiceland Friends Meeting with David Brock and Cathy Harris officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Lewisville Chapter beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
