Dorothy Maxine Hamm, 88, of Muncie and formerly of Knightstown passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Woodlands in Muncie. She was born January 11, 1924 in Knightstown to the late Harry and Emma (Kuhn) Kirk.
A lifelong resident of Knightstown, she was a 1942 graduate of Knightstown High School. She was employed by Knightstown Telephone Company and later retired after 30 years of service. Maxine was very active in community activities in Knightstown. She was a founding member of the Jolly Workers, a home economics club and was also a member of the BPW, Lions Club and Knightstown Friends Church. For the past 5 years, she had lived at Woodlands in Muncie.
Survivors include her children: Beverly (husband: Harold) McGrath of Muncie, David (wife: Char) Hamm of New Lisbon; grandchildren: Elissa Cronk, Julie Hamm both of Greenfield, Alex (wife: Tasha) McGrath of Muncie, Daniel (wife: Angela) Martin, Mark (wife: Myra) Martin, and Steve Martin; 13 great grandchildren; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard Hamm and a brother: Richard Kirk.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Ralph Peckham officiating.
