Melissa Hogan, 47, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born January 22, 1963 in Dayton, OH the daughter of Gerald and Donna (Christopher) Dearth.

Melissa lived on a small farm and loved working with her animals, especially her dogs. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, planting flowers, camping, canoeing, hiking and anything outdoors. She was a good wife, loving mother, great mother-in-law and an excellent grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a great friend, a good listener and enjoyed talking on the phone.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years: Dean Hogan of Knightstown; a son: James (wife: Bryanne) Hogan of Knightstown; a daughter: Heather (husband: Ray) Poe of Bedford, KY; grandchildren: Baylor and Elliotte Hogan of Knightstown, Dalton Poe of Bedford, KY; mother: Donna Dearth of Midway, OH; sisters: Janet (husband: Ray) Agee of Greenville, OH, Belinda Rudicil of Midway, OH; brother; Bobby Dearth of Columbus, OH;sister-in-law: Pamela Johnson of Knightstown; nieces: Christian Dearth and Katie Agee; nephews: Josh and Jason Rudicil, and Steve Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her father: Gerald Dearth.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Mark Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday, May 10. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melissa Hogan Memorial Fund c/o of Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service 7355 S. State Road 109 Knightstown, IN 46148.
