Melvie Charles Brammer, 91, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Brandywine Living Center in Greenfield. He was born December 28, 1918 in Sabetha, Kansas the son of Ernest and Myrtle (Hamilton) Brammer.
Melvie was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church for 52 years where he had been a former deacon and treasurer for 25 years. He retired from Conrail Railroad with 42 ½ years of service. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and loved to camp. He and his wife enjoyed camping for many years belonging to Good Sam and Allison Camping Clubs. His most favorite pastimes were enjoying his family and his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Dorothy “Lucile†Ulrey Brammer of Knightstown; a son: Charles (wife: Beverly) Brammer of Greenfield; a daughter: Delona (husband: Danny) Vaughn of Frankton; four grandchildren: Ryan (wife: Carissa) Brammer of Indianapolis, John (wife: Tisha) Cox of Anderson, Rodney (wife: Debbie) Cox of Knightstown, Rene’ (husband: Jerry Jr.) Powell of Frankton; six great grandchildren: Clayton Cox of CO; Matthew Cox of Knightstown, Tyler Cox and Cory Cox of Knightstown, Emily Cox of Anderson, Garth Powell of Frankton; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; a brother: Kenneth Brammer of Anderson; a sister: Jewel Collins of Ft. Wayne; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ernest and Myrtle Brammer, he was preceded in death by a brother: Alvie Brammer; grandson: Marcus Cox.
Service will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Richard Thayer and Anthony Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, February 12, 2010.
