Melvin P. England, age 71 of New Castle, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Waters of Muncie. He was born March 23, 1945 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Royal Earl and Mary (Bell) England.
He was a graduate of Cadiz High School and retired from the New Castle Police Department following 27 years of service. Melvin also retired from New Castle Schools in 2010 where he drove a school bus for over 22 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and enjoyed detailing cars, watching baseball, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marcia (Vaughn) England of New Castle; two daughters Julie (Mark) Stults of Middletown and Amy (Terry) Chasteen of New Castle; five grandchildren, Casey Stults, Bryce (Megan) England, Krista Stults, Paige Thomas and Colten McFalls; two great grandsons, Andrew and Ryan; a sister, Anita Couchman of New Castle; many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Ron) Hahne and Vicki (John) Moles both of New Castle; cousin, Brenda (Edward) Randolph of Sparta, TN special friends, Ernie and Mildred Hanna of New Castle; his dog Roscoe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Dougie Ferguson; two brothers-in-law, Russell Couchman and Norman Ferguson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve (Paula) Arnett officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimers Association, 50 E 91st ST STE 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
