Merle Cross, 91, of Mooreland, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born December 9, 1919 in Blountsville, IN the son of Orville and Sadie (Swoveland) Cross.
He attended school at Center School. Merle was a veteran in the US Army and served during WWII. He retired from Chrysler Corporation following many years of service. Merle enjoyed working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife: Betty J. (Searcy) Cross of Mooreland; a daughter: Jeanne Duncan of New Castle; grandchildren: Justin Duncan and Chelsi Hiner both of New Castle; a sister: Leithel Jester of Muncie; sister-in-law: Ruth Searcy of New Lisbon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Gaylord Cross.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Thomas H. Current officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by local American Legion and VFW. Friends may call from 4-8 Friday, May 20. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
