Merle Alan Ragan, age 59, of New Castle, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 26, 1953, in New Castle, Indiana to William Robert and Rosemary (Clapp) Ragan.
He attended Chrysler High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was employed at Clapps Alternators and Starters, Hibbing Corporation, Pam’s Restaurant, Henry County Humane Society, Henry County ICAP and was a quality control officer at Modernfold.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Ragan of New Castle; son, Jonathan Andrew and daughter, Megan Ragan living at home; daughters, Amy (husband, Westley) Cooper and their two children, Melissa (husband, Garrett) McCorkle and their four children, son, Craig (wife, Susan) Ragan and their five children, Crystal and Courtney West and Shelby; brother, Robert (wife, Debbie) Ragan and their children; extended family, Bonnie Ragan; sisters, Terri, Sherry, Geneva and Danela; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a baby sister, Leiandrea Ragan; sister, Terri Lynn; grandmother, Mary K. Clapp; uncles, J.T. Clapp and George Clapp; step father, Joseph Bacorn; brother-in-law, Rob Thompson.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Reverend Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
