Michael C “Mike” Collins, 70, a resident of Kokomo and formerly of Mt. Summit passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born June 12, 1954 to the late Marvin C. and Vada (Moody) Collins.
A 1972 graduate of Blue River Valley High School, Mike grew up in Mt. Summit and was a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church. Mike went to work for Chrysler Corp. in New Castle right out of high school. He later transferred to Chrysler’s Kokomo transmission plant, retiring in 2017.
Mike had a great passion for the outdoors, and he loved fishing, trapping, hunting, golfing and planting a garden. He was most happy doing what he loved with his three boys, grandkids and nephews. He enjoyed many hunting trips with good friends, fishing trips to Maumee and ice fishing on Lake Erie. He also looked forward to having monthly golf outings with his buddies from high school.
Mike loved his grandkids with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with them while having sleepovers at his home. Among his favorite things to do were teaching his grandchildren about gardening and fishing as well as telling them about the man in the moon (whom Mike named Elijah) around a campfire.
