Michael Duane “Mike” Hinsey, 66, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born February 14, 1956 in Connersville, Indiana, a son of the late Robert Duane and Ruth Evelyn (Lynn) Hinsey.
Mike was a 1974 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High school, where he played trumpet in band. He was employed for Allegion Corporation and formerly at Ingersoll Rand and CMH Associated in New Castle. He formerly owned & operated Automotive Electronics in New Castle. Mike was a caring, compassionate, hard working friend, always willing to help anyone in their time of need. He had been a member of Ham Radio Association and attended many ham fests for several years. He enjoyed music, tinkering and traveling. More than anything, Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a great father, not only to his children, but also to their friends.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Donna J. (Sharp) Hinsey; children, Sharon Bergen, Jack (Maggie) Hinsey, Curt Hinsey (Dakota), Camry Hinsey (Isaiah), Christian Hinsey (Virginia) and Madison Hinsey (Jason); son-in-law, Joe Bergen; grandchildren, Vance (Emma), Luke, Amelia, Penelope, Ryder, Dawson, Hailyn, Oliver, Emma, Zaidyn, Mikenzie (Shae) and three on the way; great grandchildren, Aiden, Liam & Berkeley; two brothers, David Hinsey and Philip (Sandy) Hinsey; step-mother, Marilyn Hinsey; half brother, Jeff (Laurie) Chenoweth; sisters-in-law, Ruthie Hudson and Joyce Hinsey; special friends, Jim Nichols and Bill Ward; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. James Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
