Michael "Mike" Lee Johnson

Michael “Mike” Lee Johnson, 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. Born on June 13, 1955, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Willard and Nadine (Tuggle) Johnson.

 A lifelong resident of New Castle, Mike spent many years as a used car salesman, working for several dealerships over the years prior to retiring and was once the proud owner of Car Connection in New Castle. Additionally, Mike owned and operated two bar-and-grills in the area for approximately five years.

 A man of many passions, Mike loved music, golf, sports, and especially scratch-off lottery tickets. He was a devoted NASCAR fan and had a unique habit of associating everyday numbers with NASCAR drivers. Known for his lively spirit and numerous one-liners, Mike was the “life of the party” in every room he entered. His personal motto over the past few years has been, “I’m OK, I’ve done it all and rode all the rides,” perfectly summed up his adventurous and full life.

 Mike was a longtime member of Eagles Lodge #933 and attended Open Arms Church.

 He is survived by his children: Amber (Aaron) Fuller of New Castle, Amy (Sam) Powers of New Castle, and Ike Johnson (New Castle); grandchildren: Alyssa (Devin) Solomon, Alexis Hardwick (Kaunner), Chandler (Zoe) Marcum, Mason Hardwick (Emilee), and Allie Fuller; four great-grandchildren; companion, Penny Blevins of New Castle; siblings: Russell Perdue, Marsha Patton, Lyle (Rhonda) Johnson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxine Maloyed and Pauline (Johnson) Curtis.

 Services will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, December 22. 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will take place in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe given to the Mike Johnson Memorial Fund c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.

A celebration of life will continue at the Eagles Lodge #933, 14 N. Co Rd 25 W. New Castle, IN 47362, immediately following the services at the funeral home.
