Michael "Mike" Miller

Michael “Mike” Miller, 76, of New Castle passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at Henry County Community Health. He was born on November 9, 1946 in New Castle a son of the late Chester Arthur and Betty Ella (Murray) Miller.
Always happy, liked by everyone and a gentle soul describes how Mike was known by his family, friends and people he met. He was a great daddy and had a special bond with his daughter Mitzi, they could just talk about anything and his son, Dane, they had that special sports bond and loved Poker together with Dane and his buddies, even if Dane wasn’t present. Mike also enjoyed trips to the casino to play Blackjack and loved going to the movies, even by himself; he loved popcorn and would certainly enjoy some during the show or just whenever he could. Mike was a big sports fan especially the Colts, IU Basketball and NASCAR, Dale Jarrett was his favorite driver. He loved to listen to 70’s and 80’s music and canoeing.
Mike was a 1966 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and veteran of the US Army. His career trade was an electrician for 42 years before retiring in 2003; he worked 37 years at the State Hospital and 5 years at the Women’s Prison.
Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glinda (Chaney) Miller of New Castle; children, Mitzi Miller of New Castle and Dane Miller of Camby; sisters, Vicki Miller-Taylor of New Castle and Cheryl (Joey) Cobb of Noblesville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Miller-Felix; mother and father-in-law, Christine and Charlie Chaney; sister-in-law, Wanda Denney.
Services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Eric Haler officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle/Henry County Animal Shelter.
