Mike Wyatt

Mike Wyatt, 70, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born January 13, 1950 in Henry County the son of Jack and Anna (Andis) Wyatt.

Mike retired in 2002 from Charles A. Beard School Corporation following 30 years of teaching. He taught both 5th and 6th grades over the years and mostly the subjects of math and science. Mike was also a well respected coach where he projected a positive attitude, and was a mentor and even a father figure to some. His former students and players have always had and continue to have nothing but positive stories about Mike’s influence on their lives. Over the years, Mike coached high school baseball, golf and basketball, both Jr. high boys and girls junior varsity. Mike attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO where he earned his bachelor’s degree and played on the golf team. He then went on to earn his master’s degree from Ball State University. Mike was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend. Mike had a passion for playing golf and spending time with his buddies whether it was playing golf at Royal Hylands or golf trips. He enjoyed the golf trips to Las Vegas, Colorado, Tunica, and especially the trips to Arizona with his golf coach from Ft. Lewis College.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Stacy Wyatt of Knightstown; two sons, Kraig (Lauren) Gebhardt of Carmel and Joe Wyatt of Knightstown; sisters, Michele Wyatt of Denver, CO and Trish Steele of Boston, MA; nieces and nephews, Annie Steele, Sam Steele, Sarah Steele, all of MA and Jack Fort of Knightstown; uncle, Fory Wyatt of Knightstown; and many golfing buddies and close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Liz Wyatt Fort and brother-in-law, Mark Fort.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 22, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Royal Hylands Golf Club, Mike Wyatt Foundation, PO Box 55, Knightstown, IN 46148.
