Mildred P. Brooks

Mildred Brooks, 92, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, January 02, 2016 at her residence. She was born February 27, 1924 in Raleigh a daughter of Emory and Hazel (Rider) Beam.
Mildred had been a member of the Spiceland Friends Church for over 50 years. She owned the Corner Gift Shop, was a 4-H leader for 10 years and was active in Busy Bees Home Ec Club.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Brooks of New Castle; a son, Jerry (Jane) Brooks of Sugarland, TX; a daughter, Peggy (Larry) MacFarlane of Greenwood; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Knotts of Knightstown and Eileen Graham of New Castle;
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tom Brooks; and a brother, Emory Beam, Jr.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with David Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday, January 4, 2016. Memorial contributions may be made to the Spiceland Friends Meeting, PO Box 27, Spiceland, IN 47385.
