Mildred Mae Delk, age 86 of Kokomo, formerly of New Castle passed away, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Golden Living in Kokomo where she has resided for the past 4 years. She was born July 9, 1927 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Jesse and Ina (Bertram) Daffron.
She retired from the State Hospital in New Castle in 1988 following 24 years of service. Mildred was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in New Castle where she had taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her children, Margie Kay Dyer of Kokomo, Shirley (Charles) Guffey of Westfield and Peggy (Randell) Denney of Kokomo; siblings, Maxine Feltman of Hamilton, AL, Helen Dishman of Montello, WI, and Glen (Aline) Daffron; ten grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Roland Delk; son Ray Cain; two granddaughters, Lisa Ann Cain and Brandi Renae Denney-Cupp-Higgs; sister, Hazel Covey; brothers, Roger, Edwin, and Leo Daffron; son-in-law, Bob Dyer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Victor Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
