Mildred Pauline (Hamilton) Porter, 81, of Knightstown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday in her home. She was born August 26, 1927 in Fleming County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Isaac Edward and Laura Jane (Pitts) Hamilton.
Mildred married the love of her life, Mitchell D. Porter in 1946 and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted family builder who cared and deeply loved her family, home and community. She helped manage the G2 Café in Knightstown for 17 years. Mildred was a loving person who will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband: Mitchell E. Porter of Knightstown; one son: Ray (wife: Rebecca) Porter of Anderson; three daughters: Kathlene (husband: Cecil) Powell of Arlington; Jeanine McCullers of Knightstown and Vickie McKinney of Knightstown; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters: Lona Porter of Ohio and Eldred Logan of Kentucky; and two brothers: Glen Hamilton of Sulfur Springs and Clayton Hamilton of New Castle.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society and Hancock County Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
