Milford T. “Mel” Williams, 69, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 in Community North Hospital. He was born February 22, 1942 in Indianapolis the son of Russell and Mary (Parker) Williams.
He was an auto mechanics teacher at Lincoln Tech, Indianapolis; Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis; and Plainfield Boys School in Plainfield. He also was an auto mechanic in Knightstown and Indianapolis. His most recent position was Medical Driver at Camp Atterbury. He was a member of the National Amputee Golf Association and a past member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, baseball and auto racing.
He is survived by children: Mark Pratt of Dunreith; Timothy & Nancy Pratt of Defiance, MO; Kevin Pratt & Diane Cluxton of Naperville, IL; Scott Pratt & Scott Cooper of Indianapolis; Kimberly Pratt of Carmel; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer & Matt Pratt-Hyatt of Kansas City, MO; Jeff Pratt of Fresno, CA; Allison Pratt of Defiance, MO; Christopher and Nicholas Pratt, Nick and Alex Cluxton of Naperville, IL; Bryan, Austin and Evan Pratt of Carmel; 1 great-grandchild: Genevieve (Evie) Hyatt of Kansas City, MO; mother: Mary K. Jacob of Indianapolis; 11 siblings: Nancy Reddick-Vest & Richard Vest of Indianapolis; Russell & Mildred (Cinnamon) Williams of Rogerville, AL; Carl David & Elaine Williams of Greenwood; Hughlane (Lynn) & Raymond McKelvey of Indianapolis; Warren Williams of Indianapolis; Claradine & David Molden of Peru; Paul Williams of Killeen, TX; Johnny & Pat Williams of Carson City, MI; Wally & Diana Williams of Elizabethtown, KY; Bobby & Genevieve Williams of Huntsville, AL; Mary Francis & Bill Collop of Westland, MI; 15 nieces, 14 nephews and several great-nieces and nephews and friends: Cheryl Bay of Greenwood; Kenneth Bay of Indianapolis, and Kelly (Bay) Krueger of Edinburgh.
He was preceded in death by Russell Williams, Shirley Williams and Michael William Pratt.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with LTC Eric Ebb, chaplain at Camp Atterbury, officiating. Burial will follow in Dunreith Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 23. Memorial contributions may be made to USO of Indiana Camp Atterbury
