Minnie Cross Barnard

Minnie Cross Barnard, 93, formerly of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 in The Waters of Muncie. She was born January 18, 1923 in Cartwright, Kentucky a daughter of Thomas and Ermon (Sidwell) Wallen.
Minnie retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1986 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of New Castle. Minnie was an early riser and worked willingly with her hands. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting and making candy, especially caramels and fudge.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue (John) Ford of Anderson, Missy Cross of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, John “Jay” Ford, Jr. (fiancee, Linda) of Tucson, AZ, Lori (Tim) Runyan of Summitville and Matt (Jena) Ford of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Heather Ford, Elizabeth, Abigail and Katherine Runyan; a brother, Donald (Alma) Wallen of Markleville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Cross; a brother, John Wallen; two sisters, Edna Wilhoite and Helen Kinser.
Services will be at 11:30 AM Friday, March 4, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in New Castle with Reverend Denny Neal officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 PM at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
