Mona Dale Thomas, age 82, of New Castle, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born November 8, 1927, in New Madison, Ohio, to the late Marco Dale and Elma Louise (Rice) Rush.
She was Director of the Foster Grandparent Program for Rush, Henry, and Hancock Counties and had also worked as a bookkeeper for Morris Chevrolet and Brooks Foods for 16 years. She was a past Worthy Matron of Sulfur Springs Chapter #243 of Eastern Star and a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Mona was a den mother for Cub Scout Troop 234 in Mt. Summit and also a member of the Blue River Band Boosters and a member of Area 6 Council on Aging.
Survivors include a son, David (wife, Susan) Thomas of Rushville; daughters, Jennifer Jo (husband, Jim L.) Talbott and Deidra Ann Biltz both of Indianapolis; four granddaughters, Monica (husband, Jeff) Henkel of Noblesville, Amanda Clevenger of Indianapolis, Brianne (husband, Michael) Plewke of Evansville, and Erica (husband, John) Peggs of Rushville; three great grandchildren, Haidyn Clevenger, Landon Henkel, and Adelynne Plewke.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mark O"™Brien and Dr. Cloyd Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the funeral home.
