Monte L. Goodwin, 81, formerly of Knightstown and Spiceland, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at his home at Forest Ridge in New Castle. He was born May 10, 1938 in Henry County, a son of the late Harold C. and Sarah Louise (Huffman) Goodwin.
A 1956 graduate of Spiceland High School, Monte worked for Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies as a Tool and Die maker for over 28 years. He also drove for P.A.M. Trucking for four years. He was a member of Spiceland Friends Meeting, the Sons of the American Legion in Knightstown, and the Eagles. An avid golfer, Monte loved his children and grandchildren, and always had a favorite dog.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Irene (Prignitz) Goodwin of New Castle; sons, Robert Harold Goodwin, and wife, Robyn Goodwin of Norman, OK, Randy Lee Goodwin of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Michael Scott Goodwin of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Brand, and husband Richard Brand, Brett Goodwin, Brice Ankrom and Ross Ankrom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Goodwin.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with David Brock officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service.
